Why Would Anyone Read Email Marketing?
Ok, we’ve established that you want to launch and email marketing campaign. We understand that it’s cheap compared to snail mail, and it’s fairly easy to track the results. Now the question of the hour is what would cause anyone to read the email that you sent to them?
Do They Trust You?
First and foremost, how did you obtain the email address? If you bought a mailing list, your success rate is significantly reduced. If you had people sign up for your newsletter, freebie, etc., and had them confirm their request, you are now trusted and your success rate should be much higher. If you haven’t built a list yet, but have buddied up with another marketer that has a trusted list and is willing to promote you to them, again your success rate should be up there.
Why Bother Reading Your Email?
You must offer something of value to the reader right off the bat. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a discount, tips and tricks, bonus, limited time offer, exclusive, newsletter, or some other valuable item. Not only do you have to offer something of value, but you also have to make sure that your title conveys that without question. You have to get your reader past the title in order to be effective and if your title doesn’t scream, “Open Me!” it’s all over.
Once you have a list that you’re pleased with, take some serious time to work on your email title. Make sure to avoid words that will land it in the junk mail bin. Always offer a quality item and express it clearly. Go to work!
