Forget the Social Media Experts – An Effective Email Marketing Strategy is Still King

Too many people, who are thought to be social media ”gurus”, have got it all wrong. And disappointingly when individuals read blogs, read the news or listen to their contacts, they believe that email marketing is dead and that the new kid in town is Social Media (you know, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc). While these “new kids” are here, what you need to do to make extra income for your business is an email marketing strategy.

Now I am not saying that these social media web sites are not valuable and important, but at this moment, these sites can’t beat email. And I think, as well as many other people, that social media will never replace email, especially in company activities.

As I’m sitting here at my desk writing this piece, I have come to understand that all too many people have taken the hook, line & sinker and all but tossed out email as a marketing tool as they look towards the future. These news reports and blogs are providing you with half truths and that misinformation may cost you a lot of money.

You see while social media websites are important, nothing comes close to the relationship building capability and the ROI that email gives you. The biggest concern with these items is that they are dealing with personal use of email, not business use. Regrettably, in the media, it all gets grouped together and makes it look that email has lost its mojo and is no longer useful. It could be no further from the truth. Having an email marketing strategy is what is going to move your business in front of your competition and increase your profit, not using social media websites (although these sites have their uses).

Let us break up the email conversation from individual use of email to company use of email, in particular for those businesses that want to correspond & engineer a trusting relationship with their customers and prospects and boost sales. It is this use of your business that email is king. Let me explain why.

  1. Email is lucrative and offers a high return on investment.
  2. Email offers you with a large amount of metric data.
  3. Email can be (and should be) authorization based.
  4. Email is effortless to implement.
  5. Email is extremely targeted.
  6. Email is a huge relationship builder.
  7. Email provides a high reply rate.
  8. The Email file you develop is an asset.

The time is, at this instant, for you to expand your business. Don’t let another day go by where you are caught in a rut. You should do what is necessary right now to take your business to the next level and having an email marketing strategy is the means to do it.
