Email Marketing - The Number One Secret To Getting Your Email Opened!!
Email Marketing can give you great results if you do it properly. And not everyone agree’s with what is right and what is wrong! I have only just realised myself how important your Email Marketing campaigns can be. Over the last few weeks, I have been shown what I am doing wrong!!
To quote one of my favourite sayings by Robert F Kennedy, “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly”. So now I am putting my mistakes right!
And I know you are waiting for the number 1 secret, so here it is!
I always thought that your subject headline is what would get your email opened. But no! The reason someone opens your email is YOU! Your Brand! When the person you sent the email to looks at your name, they should immediately recognise it and know who you are. That is if you are getting your online presence right. You see, if you have been seen all over social media, in pictures, videos, articles and comments, the person receiving your email will recognise your name and open that email because they already know you, they like and trust you.
One good tip is to copy your blog header at the top of your emails so people know who’s email they are reading. Another way to brand yourself would be with a signature from mylivesignature.com. And you must make sure you inject some of your own personality into your emails.
Don’t get too heavy in your email, or you will lose your readers. Use alot of paragraphs to keep it interesting. Look at your finished email. Would you read it? If you have one solid chunk of text it may look boring and then it won’t get read! And try to keep it reasonably brief.
One type of email I have seen alot of recently is in a column, just on the left hand side of the page, and quite well spaced. This makes it really easy to read quickly! And remember to put the important bits in bold or italics so they stand out! Because there is so much information on the internet nowadays that we are all learning to ’scan’ read. So if you don’t highlight them, they may not be noticed.
Recently I had a complaint from someone on my list complaining about me sending them information. They had obviously opted-in for some training I offered, not realising that they would in fact be getting emails from me once they had opted-in. My answer to this was to put a disclaimer at the TOP of my emails, saying that they were receiving my emails because they had opted-in on one of my sites, and if they did not wish to receive help in building their online business, they could opt-out easily at the bottom of the page!
This is a little scary, because you wonder if your whole list will opt-out, but fortunately I only lost a couple of people, and actually got a better click-through rate!! Probably because I was making it clear what the emails were about, and injecting a little bit of my personality into it. In effect, I was happily saying I didn’t mind if they were not interested in what I had to offer!
Remember you are sending emails to communicate with your list. If they do not feel you give value, they will never buy from you. Give them information that will help them, tips, how to’s, special offers, in fact anything that will bring them value. If you know what they want, and help them to get it, you will be of value to them.
Always think, once they know, like and trust you, they will be ready to do business with you!
