Before You Can Sell Your Stuff, Sell Your List
If there is something that everyone likes, it’s being rewarded for doing something that someone has asked him or her to do. When they are a part of an email-marketing list, this is also true. So here are some ways that you can make sure that they know that they are appreciated.
Coupons
Coupons are something that everyone loves to use, especially when they are getting coupons for being a part of a mailing list. Sending members a coupon or special deal in every mailing that you send out is a good idea to make people realize that you are thankful that they are a part of your list. It’s a good way to track how well your marketing is going as well, since you can track it by the coupon code.
Incentives
Another way to show people that you appreciate them is to give them incentives. You can offer people incentives for telling others about your mailing list and either have a contest or reward levels depending on how many people the person refers. Make the incentives only for your members - this will entice people to join and to refer others to your list.
Whenever someone is asked to join a list, they are always thinking about what they are going to gain from it. You want to be able to tell your members that they are going to get this, this, this and this from your list. This is likely going to sell them more than the thought of any products that you might have.
